Location: Salt Lake City, Utah

Snowbird is situated in the middle of the Wasatch Mountain Range and is not only home to awe-inspiring views and mighty terrain, it is also home to employees equally as remarkable. Snowbird is continually looking for the best, those who share a passion for these mountains and the outdoors. Snowbird is a unique resort with distinct summer and winter seasons and offers full-time, part-time and seasonal positions.

TITLE:Summer Recreation Staff

LOCATION: Iron Blosam Lodge at Snowbird (In-Person)

STATUS:Seasonal, July - November

SCHEDULE:On-call, varies based on business needs

  • Some nights and weekends as required by workload and special events.

SUMMARY

As a Summer Seasonal Recreation Staff member at the Iron Blosam at Snowbird under the direction of Iron Blosam management, you will work with owners' recreation staff to provide quality programs to guests and owners that will include hiking, yoga, crafts, etc.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Develop, coordinate, and implement craft activities, games, storytelling, and other classes for both adults and children.
  • Plan classes and games, shop for supplies, set-up, teach, and clean up after classes.
  • Collaborate with other recreation attendants to organize classes.
  • Coordinate and lead group hikes in a mountain setting.
  • Occasionally travel to/from the Salt Lake valley.

WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE

  • Must have a knack for arts, crafts, storytelling, and games.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication/customer service skills.
  • Must be First Aid/CPR certified. Wilderness and Remote First Aid certified, preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • College degree in related field preferred.Additional related work experience may be substituted for education.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to hike.
  • Valid Driver License w/ clean motor vehicle record. This position may drive company vehicles.
  • Basic competency in reading, writing, speaking, simple arithmetic, and basic accounting/budgeting principles.
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Utah Food Handler's Permit.
  • Experience planning classes for all age groups is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of Snowbird and Utah history as well as knowledge of Little Cottonwood Canyon flora and fauna is preferred.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • This is an on-call position.
  • Shifts may vary, may be early morning or late evening, weekends, holidays, depending on business levels.
  • Seasonal position, July - November

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Must be prepared to stay overnight, if necessary, on occasional times of road closures.
  • May experience unusual stress from high business volumes, deadlines, continual work with the public, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to carry trays and other items needed for service.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must demonstrate ability to bend, kneel, handle, reach, push, pull, grasp and perform repetitive motions.
  • Outdoor work activities require hiking and traversing on uneven/loose trails and terrain consisting of dirt, grass, mud, gravel, and rocks.
  • Indoor work activities are in a classroom setting.
  • Work is outdoors in a mountain setting and requires constant exposure to cold and hot temperatures, and other extreme weather conditions.
  • Work is subject to frequent interruptions making continuity and accuracy difficult, frequent exposure to noise.
  • Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.
