Job description

I. Title: 

Summer Camp STEAM Instructor  

II. Job Summary: 

The Camp Fresh Summer Camp STEAM Instructor is responsible for leading and implementing a high-energy, hands-on enrichment curriculum for youth ages 4–17 during our 9-week summer program. This role focuses on the "Learners to Leaders" pathway, transforming knowledge-seeking students into confident, skilled innovators. Instructors will facilitate technical skill-building while maintaining a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment that aligns with CFC's mission to equip families with the tools for self-sufficiency. 

III. Reports To: 

Program Coordinator and/or Program Director 

IV. Duties and Responsibilities: 

  1. Facilitate daily hands-on activities in 3D printing and design, coding, robotics, drone exploration, chemistry, and more. 

  1. Implement environmental science projects, including biology and ecology labs centered on the “Seeds of the Future” greenspace project.  

  1. Provide targeted tutoring to improve reading comprehension and math skills through structured daily activities. 

  1. Provide active supervision during weekly field trips to partners such as the Houston Zoo, Astros Game, and the Health Museum. 

  1. Maintain and follow a structured schedule of service hours. 

  1. Supervise and delegate tasks to volunteer tutors as needed. 

  1. Facilitate S.T.E.A.M. enrichment activities that engage and inspire participants. 

  1. Maintain current First Aid and CPR certifications as required. 

  1. Perform additional duties as assigned, in alignment with the mission and goals of the agency. 

V. Education Requirements: 

  • High School Diploma or GED required 

  • Actively enrolled in college or possess a college degree (preferred)  

VI. Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; active enrollment in college or a college degree in Education or a STEAM-related field is preferred. 

  • Experience: Demonstrated experience working with youth in a classroom, after-school, or camp setting. 

  • Bilingual/Bicultural (Spanish/English): Highly preferred to effectively communicate with the Greater East End community. 

  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with CAD design, 3D printers, robotics, or drone technology is a significant plus. 

  • Clearances: Must pass a mandatory criminal history record background check for eligibility to work with students. 

  • Certifications: Ability to obtain and maintain current First Aid and CPR certifications. 

  • Flexible schedule and willingness to work afternoons and occasional weekends 

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure 

  • Proficiency with basic computer applications and office equipment 

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy in documentation 

  • Reliable transportation and/or a good driving record 

Work Schedule: 

  • Monday to Friday, 12 Noon to 5:30pm with occasional evenings or weekends for special events.  

  • Start Date: May 26th. Summer Camp will run from June 8 to August 7, 2026.
