Department / Division: Summer Waves / Amenities
Status: Part time, Seasonal

Reports to: Summer Waves Operations Manager

Summer Waves is hiring for the 2026 summer season to work May through Labor day. This is a seasonal position that can expect to work weekends and holidays.

Jekyll Island is dedicated to maintaining the delicate balance between nature and humankind through conservation, education, and preservation. Surrounded by salt marshes, expansive oceanfront, and ancient maritime forests, it is situated within the chain of the Golden Isles, and just a few miles from St. Simons Island, Sea Island and Brunswick. As a State Park, Jekyll Island is a coastal haven where nature and humans peacefully co-exist.
Job Summary:
Attraction guards are responsible for ensuring safety and efficiency in their assigned areas, maintain park cleanliness, and provide customer service. Additionally, attraction guards are responsible for communicating safety rules and assist when necessary with emergency response.
Description:
  • Ensures safety to all park guests patrolling and monitoring assigned areas including but not limited to attraction entries, attraction pool exits, and kiddie pool.
  • Enforces safety rules and regulations of all attractions to further ensure the safety of park guests.
  • Assists lifeguards and emergency medical personnel by keeping emergency areas free of non-essential personnel and guests.
  • Contacts management and emergency medical personnel in cases of serious injury.
  • Follows all aquatic procedures as outlined in SOP manual.
  • Required to attend in-service training.
  • Assists in opening of park including but not limited to; putting out chairs, preparing shade areas, preparing attractions.
  • Assists in closing of park including cleaning and putting away chairs, shade areas, gathering and removing litter,
  • Assists patrons with all customer service needs, represents Summer Waves in a professional courteous manner at all times.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 16 years old,
  • Knowledge of general aquatic operating policies and procedures a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be mature and demonstrate professionalism.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
  • Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • More than 50% of the typical work day will be spent standing, climbing, balancing, and use of sensory abilities including feeling, grasping, touching, talking, and hearing.
  • Between 25% and 50% of the typical work day will be spent walking, stooping and/or crouching, kneeling, reaching, standing, pushing, pulling and repetitive motions of the wrists, hands or fingers.
  • Visual abilities to perform tasks required to determine the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures.
  • Required to perform in outdoor environmental conditions. Exposure to extreme heat, high humidity and occasionally adverse weather conditions as well occasional extreme cold.
  • Will be exposed to hazards such as moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, exposure to chemicals.
  • Noise levels are considered normal to loud.
