Job description

Ryan Lawn & Tree is one of the most respected names in lawn and tree care - a $100M+ company with room to grow across four states: Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Nebraska. We're on a mission to raise the bar for our entire industry, and that starts with investing in the next generation of talent.
Looking for a hands-on summer internship where you can work outside and build valuable, real-world skills? Join the Ryan Lawn & Tree team and get ready for a unique, physical, and highly rewarding experience. You'll gain practical knowledge and get trained by experts across our full range of services - all while being part of a company built for growth.
What You'll Do
Our internship provides an opportunity to rotate through multiple departments under our Horticulture Services and Landscape & Arbor Services divisions, so you can learn a little bit about everything:
Horticulture Services
  • PHC (Plant Health Care): Learn how to care for lawns and plants through fertilization, weed and insect control, and disease management.
  • Turf: Support all turf services, including fertilization and weed control programs.
  • Irrigation Service: Service and repair irrigation systems to keep landscapes healthy and green.
  • Residential Pest: Assist with home pest control services and learn integrated pest management techniques.

Landscape & Arbor Services
  • Pruning: Work with expert arborists and pruners on tree work, trimming and removal, and stump grinding.
  • Enhancement: Assist with renewable enhancements like annual mulch, flower rotations, and softscape/tree planting.
  • Design/Build: Help create stunning outdoor living spaces through hardscape and irrigation installs on large-scale projects.
  • Maintenance: Support detail crews and landscape maintenance teams with weekly/biweekly upkeep.

Client Communication: Engage directly with clients across all departments, providing excellent customer service and gaining real-world communication experience.
Requirements
This is a physical, hands-on role, so come ready to work! We're looking for students who are:
  • Ambitious & Eager to Learn: You should be a self-starter who is passionate about learning and growing in a fast-paced environment.
  • Academically Inclined: While we prefer students studying Horticulture, Forestry, Landscape Management, Agriculture, or Business, all majors are welcome to apply!
  • Physically Ready: This role requires you to be outdoors and active with the ability to lift up to 50lbs, walk, stand, and push/pull equipment for extended periods, including up to 3 miles per day in the field
  • Licensed: A valid driver's license is required with clean MVR
  • Pre Employment Screenings: ability to pass a drug screening (including marijuana), & criminal background check
Ryan Lawn & Tree is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
