Job description

Reporting to the Athletic Director, The Head Varsity Softball Coach is responsible for overseeing the Wheaton Academy Softball program, ensuring competitive excellence, positive community representation, and strong leadership of the coaching staff. The coach demonstrates the qualities of a Living Curriculum Coach .
Responsibilities include the following:
1. Coaching:
  • Develop and implement the Softball program's overall coaching strategy and vision.
  • Oversee spiritual discipleship and leadership development for players at all program levels.
  • Provide daily coaching for the varsity team, including practice planning and game preparation.
  • Manage and mentor all assistant coaches.
  • Lead team devotions regularly throughout the season.
  • Partner with the Athletic Director in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and developing coaches.

2. Communication:
  • Maintain regular communication with the Athletic Director and athletic department staff.
  • Oversee God-honoring communication with parents, players, and parent volunteers.
  • Coordinate with the Sports Information Director to keep social media and the website current.
  • Communicate with prospective players referred by Admissions.

3. Program operations:
  • Manage program finances and budget.
  • Coordinate with the Athletic Trainer for player health and safety.
  • Organize team excursions, community service, and school service activities.
  • Support college recruiting efforts for players.
  • Plan and oversee summer camp operations.
  • Utilize required technology tools to perform assigned duties.
  • Represent Wheaton Academy in conference meetings and IHSA-related activities as assigned by the Athletic Director.
  • Ensure compliance with conference and IHSA rules and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
