Job description

Position Summary JOB SUMMARY: The Tennis Program Coordinator will manage and coordinate the tennis program and services; manage and train tennis instructors; supervise six seasonal instructors working at three different tennis court locations within the city; maintain responsibility for execution of summer tennis program consisting of youth lessons, adult lessons and season-ending youth singles tournament; report to the Recreation Supervisor; complete evaluations of instructor staff; recommend program improvements; and perform other duties as assigned. Job Duties JOB DUTIES: Manage tennis program services; outreach activities. Supervise, instruct and lead tennis instructors.

Conduct opinion surveys and needs assessments. Implement organizational process and policy changes. Evaluate program effectiveness.

Recommend organizational process and policy changes. Teach tennis classes. Train instructors on safety topics.

Communicate and coordinate with Park and Recreation office staff concerning weather-related issues, enrollment problems or program challenges. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services which includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

Education and Training - Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects. Speaking and Persuasion - Talking to others and encouraging them to change their minds or behavior. Critical Thinking, Judgment and Decision Making - Thinking about the pros and cons of different ways to solve a problem, and the options, and picking the best one.

Coordination - Changing what is done based on other people's actions. Social Perceptiveness and Monitoring - Keeping track of how well people and/or groups are doing, and understanding people's reactions, in order to make improvements. Active Listening and Learning - Listening to others, not interrupting, and asking good questions in order to figure out how to use new ideas or things.

Management of Personnel Resources - Selecting and managing the best workers for a job. Service Orientation - Looking for ways to help people. Deductive and Inductive Reasoning - Using and making rules to solve problems and come up with answers from lots of detailed information.

Information Ordering - Ordering or arranging things. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Experience and knowledge of tennis game rules, scoring and techniques. Experience instructing or advising youth.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Sports Management or related field. Leadership and supervisory experience.
