Daktronics operates on fiscal year ending in April and trades on the NASDAQ under "DAKT". The Accounting Student will work across multiple accounting functions and may experience the following areas:
  • Prepare and ensure accuracy of month-end reports, journal entries, and schedules.
  • Analyze individual account activity and prepare analysis schedules.
  • Maintain month-end close organization and document retention.
  • Obtain and analyze data for compliance reports.
  • Assist with sales tax return preparation and other sales tax compliance.
  • Prepare cost analysis reports for projects.
  • Assist with managing lien releases and pay applications.
  • Assist with preparing information and pulling supporting documents for the external audit.
  • Enter vendor invoices into accounts payable system.
  • Assist with documenting and testing the internal controls.
  • Assist billing customers and maintaining accurate customer accounts.
  • Assist with general department duties as needed.

When will I work?
Applicants should be available to work approximately 15 hours per week (maximum of 20 hours per week) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during the summer.

Position has opportunity to work from a US Based home office. This position is open to candidates eligible to work in the U.S.
What are the pay and perks?
The typical hiring range for this position is $13.75 to $15.50 per hour based on the location of Sioux Falls, SD. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including relevant education, experiences, location, and applicable local legislation.
Students with GPA of 3.5 and above may be eligible for a $500 Academic Excellence Reward for each spring and fall semester completed while employed. Additional conditions may apply.

Qualifications
To be considered for Accounting Student, we require the following:
Academic Requirements:
  • The ideal candidate must be enrolled as a student and registered for at least 12 credits.
  • Preferred candidate would be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in accounting or business/economics with accounting minor or related degree and in their sophomore, junior, or senior year of school.
  • Only strong academic performers in undergraduate coursework will be considered. Must maintain an acceptable GPA.
  • Unofficial transcripts or web transcripts must be submitted with application to be considered.

Other Requirements:
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Self-motivation.
  • Microsoft office experience preferred.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
