Job description

Summary
Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP is looking for Software Developer Intern to join our 2026 Summer Internship program to support the Information Technology department. Willkie is an elite international law firm with approximately 1,300 lawyers across 16 offices in six countries.
The Software Developer Intern is responsible for learning to develop applications and coding software applications to adhere to designs supporting business requirements for external customers. The Software Developer Intern will learn to standardize the quality assurance procedure for software produced. The person in this position will test and develop fixes and scripts.
This a great opportunity to gain valuable hands-on IT experience in a law firm environment. This is a three-month opportunity, and candidates should be willing to work 35 hours per week during the summer and up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, with the possibility to extending into the academic year.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with other Software Developers as needed to define and develop requirements derived from discussions with client
  • Assist with developing applications and code software applications to adhere to designs that support business requirements for external customers
  • Assist with writing requirement specifications and design documents for a variety of development
  • tasks including feature development, database design and system integrations
  • Document processes for specifications to ensure quality
  • Evaluate system specifications against client requirements
  • Participate in implementing new software features and maintain existing features
  • Assist in developing user guide/manuals as necessary
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ensuring client and staff satisfaction through proactive communication
  • Willing to take direction and bring new and innovative ideas to the team
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, independent and eager to learn new technologies.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • AS/BS preferred in Computer Science or related field
  • Some experience developing applications or coding software is a plus
  • Familiarity with the .NET web technology stack, including .NET, .NET Core, C#, SQL, Angular, and TypeScript
  • Exposure to cloud platforms, especially Microsoft Azure, is helpful but not required
  • Experience or interest in using AI tools (such as Cursor) to assist in software development is a plus
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to build and maintain positive client relationships

ADA Requirements
  • Ability to sit at a desk most of the working day and walk short distances
  • Needs manual dexterity, speed and accuracy in handling office equipment
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption
  • Ability to work in close proximity to other individuals
  • Ability to carry light objects, e.g., files, small objects and supplies a short distance

Pay Range
USD $20.00 - USD $22.00 /Hr.
Pay Range Statement
The salary range for this role represents the Firm's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to, the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications and location. This position is a part-time hourly role and benefits eligibility will be more limited. Candidates should direct questions about benefits to the hiring manager for clarification as needed.
