Department:Diagnostic Imaging

Works under limited supervision of the Diagnostic Imaging Manager. Organizes and directs the work of the Technologist Assistants in the department. "Will work with referring physician offices to ensure timely and efficient scheduling and improve processes to ensure quality patient care." Coordinates the day-to-day activities of the staff and serves as a resource person in handling difficult or unusual situations. Will cover not only Diagnostic Imaging at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital, but will cover other hospital facilities when needed; i.e. Women's Mammography Center and Ryan Ranch. Performs other duties as assigned by the Radiologists, Director or other supervisory staff.

1.Responsible for staff evaluations and competency testing.

2.Registers and schedules patients' examinations in coordination with the Radiologists, Technologists, and Nursing Staff to ensure improved efficiency and communication.

3.Covers Ryan Ranch and WMC when needed.

4.Responds to general telephone inquiries concerning the activities and operation of the Diagnostic Imaging Department by directing and/or referring the inquiry to the appropriate person.

5.Routinely works with the Admitting Department, Emergency Room and referring physician offices to address any clerical issues and facilitate better patient flow.

2. Assures that Technologist Assistants are informed on system changes or operation through appropriate communication. Attends regular Department Meetings and in-services.

7.Evaluates the Technologists Assistants by direct observation of their work performance. Recommends and implements personnel practices when necessary according to hospital policy.

8.Opens and appropriately distributes department mail of a confidential nature for the Radiologists and the Director.

9.Orders and maintains the department inventory of office supplies and equipment.

10.Serves as a resource person for the Technologists Assistants, Referring Physicians, Radiologists and other department staff. Will perform related duties such as providing patient care when necessary.

11.Directs the work assignment and activities of the Technologists Assistants to include providing direct support when necessary.

12. Information Systems job responsibilities:

  • Employee should be familiar with the Information Systems Standards and Best Practices concepts and requirements. http://policies/dotNet/documents/?docid=4484&mode=view
    • IT will review the Information Systems Standards and Best Practices concepts, requirements and documentation with employees at least once a year for understanding, completeness and accuracy.
  • Employee shall document the system management, maintenance, and support requirements in a location accessible to Information Technology and appropriate SVMH support staff who have responsibility.

Sr. Administrative Director of Information Technology will provide input

to be reflected on the employee's performance review.

13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: Work requires knowledge generally acquired through a high school education or GED. Supervisory training is preferred.

Licensure: None.

Experience: Good working knowledge of medical office duties and medical terminology.Previous computer experience is strongly preferred.

The hourly rate for this position is $44.47 - $55.59. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the target for new hire salaries for this position.
