The Police Activities League of Southwest Washington (PAL of SWWA) is seeking a collaborative and enthusiastic Summer Recreation Assistant to join our team.
This is a part time, temporary, nonexempt position and reports to an assigned Program Coordinator or designee. The position is in-person and located in Clark County, WA.
The mission of PAL of SWWA is to foster and facilitate positive relationships between law enforcement and youth.
PAL Summer Recreation Assistant Core Responsibilities:
Our Summer Recreation Assistants (SRAs) are responsible for supporting and implementing activities and programs throughout Clark County, WA. SRAs will work with a variety of youth, including high-risk students for the duration of their work. You will be assigned a full-time PAL staff member to provide guidance and support for your assigned programs. This position works directly with law enforcement, other SRAs, and community volunteers to create positive life experiences for PAL youth from a variety of walks of life. Your commitment to PAL is a duration of 7 weeks where you will be implementing both sports and high school CSI summer camps with peer and supervisor support. As an SRA, you help ensure youth are safe, engaged, and building meaningful relationships.

Convenient office location in Vancouver, WA
15-20 hours per week, typical schedule is M-F 8 am- 12 pm with occasional afternoons required due to PAL programming.

What skills and experience could you bring to the PAL team?
Must be 16 years of age or older
Must have reliable transportation
Must Pass a National Criminal Background
Available to commit to scheduled employment dates for the duration of hire
CPR and First Aid Certification is a plus
Interested/have previous experience working directly with youth
Interest in collaborating directly with law enforcement
Ability to work independently
Ability to work with diverse populations
Ensure both a collaborative work environment with peers, youth, law enforcement, and community partners
Ability to be flexible and change quickly depending on the need of a situation
Promote program participation and lead others by example
Provide guidance and role modeling to youth and peers as needed
Ability to communicate with youth parents and/or guardians
Implement effective strategies relating to youth disciplinary policies and procedures
Provide a safe environment through clear rules and expectations
Ability to complete required reports and documentation
