About This Role

Hillsboro Christian Preschool is seeking a dedicated Assistant Teacher to join our team in August 2026, working with our small group of 2.5 to 3-year-old children. The ideal candidate will be an integral part of our ministry team, sharing the love of Christ with the children, their families, and the preschool staff, while also assisting in curriculum development and educational programming. The successful applicant will be a collaborative team player, committed to our mission and purpose, and eager to contribute to the growth and development of our students.


What You'll Do
  • Create a nurturing and safe learning environment that fosters the intellectual, spiritual, physical, emotional, and social development of each child, while maintaining a Christian atmosphere.
  • Build strong relationships with each child and their families, understanding the unique dynamics that impact the learning environment, and partnering with the lead teacher and parents to ensure seamless communication and education.
  • Support the lead teacher in implementing age-appropriate, Christian-based curriculum, providing lessons and activities that cater to the individual needs and abilities of each child, and preparing them for future academic success.
  • Collaborate with the lead teacher to present daily Bible stories and monthly memory verses, promoting spiritual growth and development in our students.
  • Contribute to the lead teacher's efforts in rotating classroom books and toys weekly, ensuring a diverse range of learning opportunities aligned with the monthly theme.
  • Assist the lead teacher in creating a monthly calendar, streamlining communication and organization within the classroom.
  • Embrace team teaching principles, being prepared to take on additional responsibilities in the lead teacher's absence, and supporting the overall growth and development of the students.
  • Adhere to Hillsboro Christian Preschool policies and VDSS/VDOE guidelines for Religious Exempt Child Day Centers.
  • Engage in ongoing education and professional development to enhance your skills and contributions to the team.

Requirements
  • Has a genuine personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Is an active and committed member of a local Christian church.
  • Has thoroughly read and agrees with the Baptist Faith and Message, as outlined in the Hillsboro Baptist Church's beliefs.
  • Demonstrates a deep commitment to biblical studies and is able to contribute to the creation of scripturally sound lessons for the students.
  • Must undergo a thorough background check, including fingerprinting and analysis results from the Virginia State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, pursuant to 63.2-1720.1 of the Code of Virginia. Additionally, the candidate must be deemed "No Match" prior to employment, indicating they are not registered as a convicted sex offender.
  • Possesses the physical, medical, mental, and occupational capabilities to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Teacher role.
