Job description

As a Geotechnical Engineer for Civil & Environmental Consultants Inc. (CEC), in the Geotechnical group at one of our greater Boston offices, you'll be responsible for geotechnical subsurface investigations related to real estate development, manufacturing, solid waste facilities, renewable energy, natural gas and public infrastructure projects, as well as construction materials and geotechnical testing services for various projects. You will coordinate and monitor subsurface drilling, obtain soil and rock samples, prepare boring logs, develop laboratory testing programs, interpret laboratory data, perform geotechnical analyses and prepare geotechnical reports. This role will also include construction materials testing and project duties will include earthwork, concrete, foundation, masonry, and pavement construction testing. You’ll work on a wide range of projects—delivering geotechnical solutions that shape communities and support critical development.

Endless perks are available to employees at CEC! Throughout the year, employees enjoy the annual summer outing, monthly happy hours, regular hikes and outdoor activities, and an annual holiday party!  We also understand the importance of reaching beyond the office and giving back to the community—CEC employees volunteer for beach cleanups, educational outreach, and food drives. At CEC, we pride ourselves on fostering a culture of connection, collaboration, and growth within the office and in our community.

At CEC, our employees enjoy a flexible work schedule, with hybrid options. Our comprehensive benefits package includes bonus recognition, based on performance, as well as participation in our employee stock ownership program. Additionally, we conduct mid-year and end-of-year performance reviews and provide goal-setting opportunities.

Applicants will have an option to sit in either our Raynham, MA or Peabody, MA office locations. The pay range for this position is between $70,000 and $85,000. The hiring range posted is a good faith estimate of what Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. may reasonably offer for the role as outlined. Factors such as additional education and/or experience may influence the actual offering.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geology or related field (Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering is a plus)
  • Previous internship experience required or 1+ year consulting experience
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification is a plus
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Strong quantitative/math and analytical skills
  • Ability and willingness to participate in field work
  • Ability to travel for out of town assignments (~50%)

Not only will we help you develop professionally, but we will also provide an opportunity to become an owner of the firm and share in its success.

CEC offers a matching 401(k); profit sharing; a performance bonus; company stock; medical, dental, and vision insurance; short and long-term disability; tuition assistance; professional development; and work-life balance.
