About Elevate Robotics

Elevate Robotics, Inc., is a subsidiary of Apptronik. Elevate was formed to democratize superhuman mobile manipulation to improve worker safety and to help solve the ever-increasing labor shortage problem. Our team has a heritage of building some of the most advanced robots on the planet for years, dating back to the DARPA Robotics Challenge and before. We apply our expertise across the full robotics stack to some of the most important and impactful problems our society faces and expect our products and technology to change the world for the better. We value creativity, humility, integrity, passion, and curiosity to help us overcome existing technological barriers in the industry to create truly innovative products.

The Role

The team is seeking a Software Engineer Intern with hands-on capabilities and a strong practical background. You will be treated as a junior engineer, tasked with bringing up and testing real robots, automating deployment processes, and solving engineering challenges.

Your time will split between scripting, coding, and hardware integration, while also acting as a "force multiplier" for the senior engineering team to help us hit critical roadmap milestones.

Core Responsibilities

  •     Assist in control system tuning for industrial robots.
  •     Support integration of autonomy software with perception, navigation, manipulation, and control systems.
  •     Write clean, well-documented C++ and Python code under guidance from senior engineers.
  •     Assist with production robot bringup.
  •     Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and technical planning sessions.
  •     Contribute to improving software quality, reliability, and test coverage.

Qualities

  •     Currently pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  •     Strong programming fundamentals in C++.
  •     Robot tuning and modeling experience.
  •     Comfort with Git.
  •     Basic understanding of robotics or autonomous systems concepts.
  •     Familiarity with Linux development environments.
  •     Ability to learn quickly, work collaboratively, and take ownership of well-defined tasks.
  •     Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  •     Familiarity with AI-assisted coding (A token budget will be included).

Preferred Skills

  •     Familiarity with AI-assisted coding (A token budget will be included).
  •     Prior experience with robotics software, simulations, or autonomous systems.
  •     Familiarity with ROS or ROS 2.
  •     Exposure to depth camera integration.
  •     Interest in real-world deployment challenges.
