Job description

Position Information The purpose of this classification is to ensure a positive and enriching camp experience for camp participants in activities such as, but not limited to, hiking, rock climbing, tree climbing, paddlesports, archery, and crafts. Essential Functions The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification.

Other duties may be required and assigned. Ensures that all rules are followed by camp participants. Oversees, directs and organizes camp participants.

Prepares facilities and equipment for camp activities. Learns and implements positive behavior-management techniques. Maintains clear and positive communication with supervisor, co-workers, parents and camp participants.

Implements camp activities and adjusts as needed under guidance of the summer camp leadership team. Administers First Aid and reports injuries/accidents/illnesses to summer camp leadership team. Serves as role model to camp participants and other staff.

Maintains and stores camp equipment and supplies. Facilitates camp activities as needed. Drives the division's 15-passenger sprinter vans and other county vehicles to and from local and regional activity destinations.

Responds to incidents and other situations according to camp policies and procedures with guidance of summer camp leadership team when necessary. Minimum Qualifications Must be 18 years or older. Previous experience working or volunteering with youth in a camp, educational or group setting is preferred.

Must possess organizational skills; be enthusiastic, adaptable, dependable and responsible. Must be able to work outdoors and participate in active games and programming.
