Job description

Transform patient care and the community as a Hospital Medicine Nocturnist in Amarillo, Texas.
Our mission in Amarillo is to provide "better" in every sense-better healthcare, better teamwork, and a lasting impact on the community we proudly serve. Ready to grow your career in a place that values community and collaboration? Let's talk.
Local Team Collaboration:
  • We take pride in our well-established team at Northwest Medical Center of 10 physicians and 2 advanced practice providers (APP), with the support of a clinical performance nurse, a clinical performance associate, and a group coordinator.
  • Work alongside a diverse group of professionals with backgrounds from all over the world. We are an integral part of our hospital community and a valued strategic partner, maintaining great relationships with hospital leadership and other physician groups.
  • This is an academic hospital, and we manage the internal medicine residency program.
Qualifications:
  • Board-certified/eligible in family or internal medicine.
  • We provide in-house licensing and credentialing support.
  • We proudly sponsor J1 visa candidates and provide in-house visa specialists, licensing, and credentialing support. All required filing fees for the visa are covered by Sound.
Scheduling:
  • 7 on/off.
  • As a Nocturnist, you will be working nights, 7 pm-7 am.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Will average 7-8 admissions on average at night.
  • Average floor calls are about 80.
  • Rapids are managed by residents.
  • There is a swing APP that will be on until 11 pm and will help cover admissions and cross-call.
  • Strong vascular team for PICC line, and great RT team for intubations.
  • Cerner EMR.
Living and working in Amarillo, Texas:
  • Recently voted as one of the top cities in the country to start a business and raise a family. Amarillo is historically known as "The Yellow Rose of Texas," as the city takes its name from the Spanish word for yellow and has been most recently referred to as "Rotor City, USA" for its V-22 Osprey hybrid aircraft assembly plant.
  • Amarillo has several natural attractions near the city, including the Palo Duro Canyon State Park, the U.S.'s second-largest canyon system, after the Grand Canyon, and the Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument. Cultural points of interest located in the city are the American Quarter Horse Association, the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum, which claims to be the largest historical museum in Texas, and the Don Harrington Discovery Center.
  • Downtown is clean, plain, and mostly modern. For the region, the area has a relatively pleasant, dry climate; a small-town feel; and a low cost of living, but the downside is a wide-open, featureless space far across the plains from anywhere else.
  • Summer days are warm to hot with low humidity; evenings are pleasant. The area is generally sunny and dry with periods of spring and summer thunderstorms and winter snowstorms.
  • Amarillo is located near the middle of the Texas Panhandle. Amarillo sits closer in proximity to the Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Colorado borders.
Rewards and Compensation:
  • Day shift rate of $1750 and night shift rate of $2000.
  • Nocturnist base salary of $365,000
  • Eligible for RVU and Quality bonus.
  • Full Benefits, including CME allowance.
  • Robust sign-on bonus of $50k.
