  • Process and interpret property insurance exposure data for input to HurLoss, ARAโ€™s hurricane catastrophe loss model.
  • Work with end users to understand how HurLoss can be used to support their catastrophe modeling needs.
  • Apply probability and statistics in engineering.
  • Lead multiple projects and interact with current and prospective clients.
  • Lead marketing/business development activities in one or more client areas.
  • Document work and write technical reports.

Senior scientist required skills:

Senior scientist position requirements:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree or higher in Civil/Structural Engineering, Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years of experience in catastrophe modeling and property insurance risk modeling. Advanced degree may be considered in partial fulfillment of the experience requirement.
  • At least one course in computer programming and relevant experience in developing computer codes (e.g., FORTRAN, C, C++, and/or Python) for natural hazard risk assessment.
  • Candidates selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information.ย
