For more than 65 years, EDC has partnered with communities, governments, and private sector to improve education, workforce development and health outcomes.

By combining interdisciplinary expertise with real-world experience, EDC works across these pillars to design, implement, and scale evidence-based solutions that help partners address complex challenges and create lasting change.

Job Description

About the Role

EDC President's Office has an opening for a summer associate - AI Coordinator (Casual) for 8-10 weeks, who is actively pursuing a graduate degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or other related fields. AI Coordinator will support applied AI and data work across projects in education, workforce, and well-being. This role sits at the intersection of AI and advancing on our mission in a rapidly evolving world.

This casual position receives statutory benefits of Social Security contributions, Medicare contributions, unemployment insurance, worker’s compensation insurance and sick leave. A casual position ends when work is complete.

A key part of this role is working closely with EDC’s CEO and strategy and content experts who are leading work in key priority areas and balancing significant demands. The AI coordinator  will need to listen carefully, communicate clearly, and collaborate in ways that are respectful of staff time while adding value.

The coordinator  will help the CEO and President’s Office staff explore and apply AI tools in ways that make their work stronger, faster, and more effective—translating emerging capabilities into practical support for leadership and organizational impact.
This role will  identify practical, mission-aligned ways AI and data can support existing work—The coordinator  should be able to engage colleagues thoughtfully, surface useful opportunities, and contribute ideas that are both realistic and actionable.
Importantly, this role is not only about suggesting possibilities. The AI Coordinator  will create lightweight prototypes, examples, or demonstrations based on what they are learning from staff—helping colleagues see what AI-enabled solutions could look like in practice. A key part of the role is making the potential of AI tangible and accessible through concrete outputs, not just concepts.
This role focuses on using data, AI and emerging technologies to:

  • Strengthen services that promote individual and community well-being
  • Support equitable access to learning and career opportunities
  • Improve program effectiveness and decision-making
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or other related fields.
  • Graduate student currently pursuing master’ degree in a related field
  • Familiarity with generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, or similar platforms.
  • Basic experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets, Python, or similar tools)
  • Ability to learn and evaluate emerging AI tools and technologies quickly.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to assess opportunities, limitations, and risks associated with AI applications
