Lifeguard- Swim Instruction Summer 2026

You'll play a key role in our summer program by ensuring safety at the pool and guiding students through fun, developmentally appropriate swim lessons. With a Monday through Friday schedule and no nights or weekends, you'll enjoy a great work-life balance while making a meaningful impact each day. When isn't the sun shining? You're still part of the team - stepping into our classrooms to support teachers and connect with students in new ways.

Summer Camp Session: July 6th- August 28th, 2026

*Mandatory Training/Orientation days prior to the start of camp.


Shift: Monday- Friday, Full-time hours, enjoying your evenings and weekends off! ( 35-40 hours per week)


Rain or Shine - We're a Team! At Apple Montessori, we believe in flexibility and teamwork. If the weather doesn't cooperate, our Lifeguard/Swim Instructors support our classrooms for the day, helping create a positive learning environment indoors. Your role may shift, but your impact stays strong - rain or shine!


Must Have Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, Including CPR and First Aid Training



Some of your duties and responsibilities:

  • Maintains constant surveillance of the pool area and is rescue ready at all times and headcount of children at all times.
  • Provide safety information to children prior to them entering the pool.
  • Supervise swimmers to ensure they are swimming within the safety protocols.
  • Spot hazards or potential and take measures to prevent accidents.
  • Perform rescues in the event of swimming accidents.
  • Perform first aid and CPR according to the demands of adverse situations.
  • Perform pool chemical checks to ensure safety and hygiene.
  • Maintain accurate records of pool use and chemical levels.
  • Teaches level-appropriate swimming techniques and safety education by Apple Montessori Schools swim lesson standards to all swimmers.
  • Check the safety of rescue tubes and buoys and perform needed maintenance.
  • Ensure that all pool equipment and chemicals are stored safely away.
  • Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergencies immediately in accordance with Apple Montessori Schools.
  • Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
  • Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.
  • Maintains an attractive and clean aquatic environment.
  • Assists Teacher and Teacher Assistant in the classroom as necessary.
  • Performs all such related and non-related duties as may be assigned from time to time.

An Apple Montessori Schools Summer Camp Lifeguard/Swim Instructor will maintain the highest level of pool safety and surveillance, while also engaging campers in swim instruction.


WORKING AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Outdoor-based based require a full range of body motion including swimming, diving, and treading water.
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity
  • Requires the ability of normal hearing, vision range, and the absence of color blindness.
  • May require working under stressful conditions and requires flexibility in response to staffing needs. Must be regularly available and willing to work at least the required hours per day and overtime/weekends as requested.
  • Perform duties on site unless otherwise indicated and approved.


Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18
  • High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED) or equivalent.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification or willing to obtain
  • Current Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification or willing to obtain prior to the beginning of camp.
  • Ability to maintain certification level of physical and mental readiness.
