Title of this Position: Bus Driver
Reports To: Transportation Supervisor
The Bus Driver is responsible for providing safe and timely transportation for various routes for the students of Providence Creek Academy.
Qualities needed to thrive in this role:
  • Relationships- the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and key school stakeholders across the school
  • Knowledge- a working knowledge of State and Federal laws, guidelines, safety protocols, and school rules
  • Dedication- a desire to interact and safely drive students to and from school in all weather conditions
  • Community- the ability to support the transportation staff, create a welcoming environment, and communicate effectively with stakeholders

Major Responsibilities Include:
Under the supervision of the Transportation Coordinator, the Bus Driver will:
  1. Drive a school bus on scheduled routes and/or on all types of field trips
  2. Operates all school bus equipment and accessories
  3. Maintains control of all passengers as required by Delaware Regulation 1150
  4. Report any unsafe actions or conditions
  5. Complete all forms, timesheets, records, and reports in a timely fashion
  6. Maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and the general public
  7. Maintains a clean and safe driving record

Essential Qualifications and Skills:
Education:
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience and Qualifications
  • Previous experience or work as a bus driver is preferred
  • Clean driving record- no more than 4 points on license
  • CDL Class B School Bus Endorsement
  • Fingerprinting / CBC
  • Affidavit
  • **Willing to train new drivers

Skills
Ability to:
  1. Communicate accurately and effectively with various levels of staff
  2. Remain organized
  3. Behavior management experience
  4. Reliable / Dependable

Compensation:
This position is $150/day at $30/hours and require 25 hours a week-- field trips, sports trips, and summer camp field trips available as well
Compensation: Based on years at PCA-- bonus potential for sign on, referrals, and safety
