Job description

Summer Part time Occupational Therapist (OT) – Manhattan, NY

Overview/Impact

Are you an experienced and passionate Occupational Therapist dedicated to helping students in Manhattan build the critical skills needed to succeed academically and independently? We are seeking a part-time Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our team and deliver essential support for students in NYC Department of Education (DOE) schools. With a major shortage city-wide of related services providers, your skills are urgently needed to help students develop essential life skills and achieve their goals. This is a chance to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students with varied needs using evidence-based occupational therapy approaches.

As an OT with Knowledge Road, you will have the flexibility to deliver personalized therapy interventions, working with school teams and families to promote student growth and independence.

Responsibilities

As an Occupational Therapist (OT) with Knowledge Road, you will:

  • Provide high-quality occupational therapy services for students in individual and group settings, as mandated by their Individualized Education Service Programs/Individualized Education Programs (IESP/IEP).

  • Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate students' fine motor, visual-motor, sensory processing, and daily living skills.

  • Create and execute evidence-based treatment plans utilizing sensory integration, motor learning principles, and adaptive strategies.

  • Adjust and modify classroom environments, learning materials, and assistive devices to improve student participation and independence.

  • Work closely with parents, teachers, related service providers, and school administrators to ensure coordinated care and optimal outcomes.

  • Offer guidance and training to educational staff on positioning, adaptive equipment usage, and sensory strategies.

  • Detailed and timely documentation of all services, progress, and outcomes per DOE regulations and Knowledge Road standards.

  • Participate actively in IESP/IEP meetings, providing expert occupational therapy insights and evidence-based recommendations.

Qualifications

• Current valid NYS license as an Occupational Therapist in good standing.

• NBCOT (National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy) certification.

• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in school-based or pediatric settings.

• Competency in electronic documentation systems and teletherapy platforms.

• NYC DOE fingerprinting and vendor status required or willingness to complete before start.

Schedule & Location

This part‑time position follows the school day schedule aligned with the NYC DOE calendar. Services will be provided on‑site at schools in the Bronx, with placements determined by student needs. Weekly hours are based on IESP/IEP mandates and may vary by assignment, generally ranging from 5–15 hours per week. The role runs from July 2026 through August 2026.

Compensation

$80/hr (1099)

Why Join Knowledge Road?

At Knowledge Road, you will benefit from:

• 1099 contractor position with quick, dependable payments

• Streamlined administrative and documentation processes

• Supportive team providing DOE compliance and scheduling assistance

• Professional community of NYC school-based practitioners
