Job description

Vision for the Role: The Activities Assistant plays a vital role in creating spaces that help facilitate ministry experiences for campers and guests. This individual provides general guidance and assistance on the use of activities and ensures a positive guest experience and compliance with safety protocols. The heart behind this role is to create spaces where outdoor adventure serves as a medium for community building and gospel conversations.

The Role:
  • Duties include instructing campers and staff on the use of activities which might include ropes course, climbing wall, archery, escape room, paintball, and other recreational activities.
  • Providing lifeguard supervision to the waterfront areas and assisting in pool maintenance.
  • Help as needed with other camp operations, including but not limited to the cleaning and transition of facilities between guest groups.
  • Follow all safety procedures and directions provided by supervisors.
  • Maintain a positive and cooperative attitude, contributing to a Christ-centered team environment.
  • Represent Hume Christian Camps' values and mission through conduct, attitude, and service.

Our Ideal Candidate:
  • Experience in outdoor activities such as lifeguarding, climbing, refereeing, etc. preferred but not required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age at start of employment to live in summer staff housing; or must be a High School graduate who is a dependent resident of Hume in staff housing.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Willingness to perform physical tasks and work outdoors or indoors as needed.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work under supervision.
  • Must agree with and support Hume Christian Camps' Statement of Faith.
  • Must have a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and a desire to share the Gospel through word and deed.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, frequently lift 50 pounds, bend, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the functions of the job.
  • Live and work in extreme weather conditions, at high altitude, and in small living quarters.
