Description
The Department of Teacher Education, Kinesiology, and Educational Studies (DTEKES), in the College of Education, invites expressions of interest for part-time faculty teaching opportunities in Elementary Education for the 2026-2027 Academic Year. Part-time teaching positions are available throughout the academic year, including summer sessions. Applicants with expertise that matches course scheduling needs will be contacted for an interview. Academic course schedules fluctuate from quarter to quarter and selected individuals will work with department faculty to determine a quarterly schedule. Courses are not guaranteed; however, the Department does its best to give ample notice about available courses and potential course cancellations.
The Elementary Education Program seeks applicants with expertise and experience in the following areas:
  • General Elementary Curriculum and Instruction
  • Elementary Math Curriculum and Instruction
  • Elementary Science Curriculum and Instruction
  • Elementary Social Studies Curriculum and Instruction
  • Elementary Assessment
  • Elementary Literacy Curriculum and Instruction
  • Elementary Arts Curriculum and Instruction (visual arts, music, drama, dance)

The Supplemental Questions pertain to applicants' expertise in Elementary Education.
Qualifications
  • Applicants must have at least a master's degree in the elementary education field. Some courses may require a doctoral degree.
  • The candidate must have demonstrated experience working and teaching with children/adults working with elementary-age children (grades K-6).
  • Our students represent many different perspectives and cultures, and the University strives to recruit and sustain a faculty community where all backgrounds are valued and supported.
  • All applicants for Elementary Education Program methods courses must have a minimum of five years of licensed teaching experience in any grades from K-6.

About DePaul University's Academic Calendar:
Except for the College of Law, DePaul University operates on a quarter system. Classes in Autumn, Winter, and Spring quarters are 11 weeks in length (including finals week) and Summer courses, in two sessions, are typically 5 weeks in length. The College of Law operates on the semester system. Classes in the Fall and Spring semesters are 16 weeks in length (including finals week) and it offers a Summer Session of 7 weeks (including final exams).
