Summer Math Teacher Jobs in Boston, MA (NOW HIRING)

We are seeking a dedicated teacher to provide engaging, personalized education to high school youth within Department of Youth Services (DYS) programs.

We offer a high-support environment, with no cell phone battles and no lunch duty. Our teachers can focus on what is most important - supporting student success. This is a Teacher position located in the Metro Boston (Dorchester) area.

Our students are court-involved youth and also budding artists, curious scientists, talented musicians, aspiring college students, and future change agents eager to experience hope and contribute to their communities.

• Aspiring educators - Professionals with experience working with teenagers in academic and support settings are encouraged to apply. 
• Current educators - We welcome applicants with a current Massachusetts secondary teacher licensure (8-12; 5-12)*, especially those with experience with students placed at-risk.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College or University
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle or method for attending trainings or other meetings as required at locations throughout the state
• Sheltered English Immersion Endorsement for core content teachers pursuant to ESE regulations
• Successful experience working with adolescents placed at-risk.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree from an accredited College or University
• Current Massachusetts secondary level teacher licensure (8-12; 5-12) and/or experience working with teenagers placed at-risk.
• Additional grade levels (5-8) in the corresponding subject area is allowable for a duration of up to two years while the employee secures upper grade level certification. 

Physical Demands:

• Ability to multi-task and respond to demanding job duties with a positive mindset. 
• Must be able to enter, exit, and move through and between classrooms and program locations throughout the day. At some locations this will mean moving between floors.  
• Must be able to communicate and converse effectively in real time with youth and adults from multiple backgrounds and cultures.  
• Must maintain situational awareness, including awareness of student activity and communication in fast-paced secure residential treatment settings. 
• Requires the ability to effectively handle job stress in the performance of duties.  
• Ability to curate teaching and learning through Google Classroom, Meet, and/or Zoom as well as other blended learning tools and software technologies  

Work Conditions:

• Ability to handle interruptions and maintain productivity.
• Ability to work with diverse personalities.
• Skilled in working both independently and collaboratively.
• May be subject to locked settings where the threat of verbal abuse and physical violence exists. Possible exposure to communicable diseases.
• Employees are expected to follow CES Workplace Safety Standards and DYS Workplace Safety Standards.

Terms of Employment:

• Full-time, 185 day contract, CES/DYS School Calendar
• Monday - Friday, 8 hours/day
• Salary Range: $59,523 to $82,246. 
  • Starting salary will depend on level of licensure, education and experience. 
• Teachers are part of a bargaining unit represented by SEIU 509.
