Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Research Assistant will support the Research and Evaluation Team in implementing the Research and Evaluation Plan for WestCare' s HOPWA HINT Program. This role requires familiarity with individualized backgrounds, as well as an understanding of the needs of individuals living with HIV/AIDS. Essential job functions include, but are not limited to, those listed below

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Collect baseline, discharge, and follow-up data on clients;
  • Score assessment instruments;
  • Develop basic statistical databases;
  • Enter client data into the statistical database;
  • Enter data into a federal database (if needed);
  • Monitor quantitative and qualitative data collection processes;
  • Coordinate the compilation and management of data;
  • Maintain tracking and follow-up log for all clients;
  • Engage and build rapport with all clients to assist with tracking and follow-up;
  • Conduct chart audits for evaluation purposes;
  • Administer Consumer Perception Surveys;
  • Conduct client and/or staff Focus Groups;
  • Maintain a Research and Evaluation file for each client;
  • Conduct basic statistical analyses;
  • Produce reports or assist in the development of reports as required;
  • Provide feedback to the Project Director and/or Project Coordinator regarding attainment of goals and objectives as well as data collection;
  • Assist Project Director or Project Coordinator with Performance Improvement;
  • Conduct literature searches via the internet;
  • Other related duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Experience and Competencies:

  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis or variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to operate a computer and complete documents in Microsoft Word program formats
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Adherence to the highest standard of ethical conduct, especially to standards governing
  • confidentiality.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Extensive knowledge in the area being researched

  • Military/Veteran preferred.
  • During your tenure with WestCare there may be new requirements, including, but not limited to vaccinations that are issued by local, State, Federal, and/or Funders that WestCare may have to comply with. Should this occur Human Resources or appropriate personnel will inform you.
  • CPR Certification, First Aid Certification, and an annual Tuberculosis test.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree (research related); and
  • One (1) year equivalent experience in evaluation and/or research is required.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Not applicable for this position.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work is performed in a combination of out in the field and in an office setting;
  • Some travel is required; and
  • Work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
