Position Summary
The School of Public Administration atthe University of New Mexico (UNM) anticipates hiring MHA Adjunct Faculty toteach graduate level courses in the Spring 2026, and Summer 2026 semesters.
Anticipated openings will be forAdjuncts who can teach courses in a broad range of subject areas in the MHAprogram, including but not limited to the subject areas covered in thefollowing UNM courses:
  • Hospital and Clinic Administration
  • Healthcare Management
  • Healthcare Ethics
  • Disability and Public Policy
  • Healthcare Quality Management
  • Behavioral Health Policy
  • Healthcare Payment Systems
  • Healthcare Information Technology
  • Healthcare Finance
  • Healthcare Administration
  • Cultural Competence and Healthcare Administration
  • Global Health

The School of Public Administration is seekingqualified temporary part time faculty members to teach graduatelevel classes in various disciplines as specified above. Instructors areresponsible for all aspects of any class they are teaching. Responsibilitieswill include but not be limited to meeting with the class during assignedtimes, delivering the course curriculum, developing and grading assignments,reporting grades, and assessing student learning outcomes as outlined by the Directorof the School of Public Administration.
Positions are contingent upon needeach semester as determined by student enrollment levels, courses on thecurrent course schedule, and demand driven by graduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline forstudents to drop or add courses. Candidates who are selected for thesepositions will report to the Director of the School of Public Administration.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:To teach courses as described aboveare determined by Higher Learning Commission's accreditation requirements forfaculty, and must be met by one of these ways:
  • Master's Degree or higher in the discipline or subfield for which you are applying;
    Or
  • Master'sdegree or higher in a field other than in the discipline or subfield that is relatedto the position for which you are applying;
    Or
  • Successfulcompletion of at least 18 graduate credit hours in an accredited program in thediscipline or subfield for which you are applying (i.e. BA or BS degree forexample).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years professional experience in the specialization or subfield
  • An earned doctorate from an accredited institution
  • Successful teaching experience in a post-secondary institution
  • Successful experience teaching courses using a variety of teaching modalities (such as Face-to-Face, Remote, and Fully Online)
  • A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understand of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities
