Job description

JOB PURPOSE:

The Medical Practice Summer Intern will support the medical practice team through the transition to electronic databases. The intern will gain hands on experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) programs.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with administration tasks including but not limited to the following:

  • Sorting of paper chart

    • Review the members chart to include any divided portions

    • Removing staples, tape, sticky notes & sign here flags

  • Labeling each section to be scanned with a divider tab

    • Ensure each section has the proper documents

  • Scanning into the O drive and EMR

    • Scanning physical files into your O drive

      • Copying of lager documents prior to scanning

      • Ensuring all documents are scanned (double sided copies)

      • With proper naming convention

    • Scan documents into the EMR

      • Ensuring the paperwork is scanned into the proper chart

      • Ensuring the labeling convention is correct

      • Confirm all parts of the chart have been uploaded

  • Maintain and update TEAMS databases with pertinent member information

    • Reviewing of chart for any missing documenting needed for an audit and update database accordingly.

  • Secure and Protect Patient privacy by disposing of scanned file into the shred it bins one file is uploaded.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Weekly Hours: 40

Schedule: 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM

Location: Allerton, Bronx

Duration: June 1st, 2026 - Mid August, 2026

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Current Bachelors students graduating in either 2026 or 2027.

Experience:

  • Able to pass a typing test with at least 40 WPM.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Excellent communications skills written and verbal.

Physical Requirements

Individuals must be able to sustain certain physical requirements essential to the job. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Standing - Duration of up to 6 hours a day.

  • Sitting/Stationary positions - Sedentary position in duration of up to 6-8 hours a day for consecutive hours/periods.

  • Lifting/Push/Pull - Up to 50 pounds of equipment, baggage, supplies, and other items used in the scope of the job using OSHA guidelines, etc.

  • Bending/Squatting - Have to be able to safely bend or squat to perform the essential functions under the scope of the job.

  • Stairs/Steps/Walking/Climbing - Must be able to safely maneuver stairs, climb up/down, and walk to access work areas.

  • Agility/Fine Motor Skills - Must demonstrate agility and fine motor skills to operate and activate equipment, devices, instruments, and tools to complete essential job functions (ie. typing, use of supplies, equipment, etc.)

  • Sight/Visual Requirements - Must be able to visually read documentation, papers, orders, signs, etc., and type/write documentation, etc. with accuracy.

  • Audio Hearing and Motor Skills (language) Requirements - Must be able to listen attentively and document information from patients, community members, co-workers, clients, providers, etc., and intake information through audio processing with accuracy. In addition, they must be able to speak comfortably and clearly with language motor skills for customers to understand the individual.

  • Cognitive Ability - Must be able to demonstrate good decision-making, reasonableness, cognitive ability, rational processing, and analysis to satisfy essential functions of the job.
