Job description

The Camp/Clinic Counselor will provide fundamental instruction in a specific sport, as well as supervision and guidance to youth aged attendees at LMU Sports Camps/Clinics. The position reports to the Coaching and Administrative Staff in the LMU Athletics Department. The Camp/Clinic Counselor may be responsible for supervising camp counselors, administrative camp duties, and/or have advanced experience and teaching qualifications.

Position Specific Accountabilities

  • Provide individual and group instruction to campers in a specific sport. This will be achieved by teaching campers proper technique through stretching and warm-up activities, drills and competitions and individual and group dynamics per the program outline set forth by the coaching staff.

  • Provide supervision of campers at all times during camp hours. This includes transporting campers to and from different facilities, during lunch breaks and recreation swim times. A head check must be performed whenever campers are escorted to or from a facility, and an accounting notated on the camper checklist form. Counselors are responsible for their campers until they are picked up and signed out by a parent or guardian at the end of the camp day.

  • Camp counselors are expected to maintain and abide by the standards of conduct set forth in the LMU Athletics Department handbook. Additionally, camp counselors will adhere to the LMU Summer Sports Camp Counselor Guidelines created by the summer camp administration.

  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

NCAA, Conference, and University Rules Compliance

  • Conduct all aspects of program in accordance with the rules and policies established by Loyola Marymount University, the Athletics Department, all Sports Conference Affiliations, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

  • Complete all rules compliance information as required.

  • Participate in an annual evaluation of adherence to rules compliance (LMU, Athletic Department, Sports Conference Affiliations, NCAA) with immediate supervisor.

  • Conduct evaluation of adherence to rules compliance (LMU, Athletic Department, Sports Conference Affiliations, NCAA) with all assigned personnel on an annual basis.

Requisite Qualifications
