Job Title: hvac Service Manager

Job Description

The Service Manager oversees technicians and supports the daily operations of the service department within a commercial and industrial HVAC organization. This role ensures efficient scheduling, strong technical support, and excellent customer service while maintaining safety standards and supporting the professional growth of service technicians.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage service technicians, providing day-to-day leadership and direction.
• Schedule service calls and coordinate technician assignments to ensure timely and efficient service delivery.
• Handle customer requests and inquiries, ensuring clear communication and high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Manage dispatching and scheduling activities, including prioritizing service calls and aligning resources.
• Provide technical support to field service technicians, assisting with troubleshooting and complex service issues.
• Develop, implement, and refine training programs for service technicians, based on their needs and requests.
• Offer on-the-job support and training for technicians to enhance their skills and performance.
• Maintain strong customer relations through professional communication and follow-up on service work.
• Oversee billing processes, including reviewing service work, creating estimates, and ensuring accurate invoicing.
• Assist with inventory management by ordering, tracking, and maintaining parts, tools, and equipment.
• Coordinate and schedule subcontractors to support service operations when needed.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies within the service department.
• Monitor and maintain adherence to commercial and industrial HVAC service standards and best practices.

Essential Skills

• At least 10 years of experience in HVAC field service, with strong experience in commercial and industrial systems.
• Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial HVAC systems, including service, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to train and mentor new technicians.
• OSHA 10 certification.
• EPA certification.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting HVAC and related electrical systems.
• Experience in dispatching, scheduling, and coordinating field service operations.
• Ability to provide technical support to field technicians on active jobs.
• Strong customer service and communication skills for managing customer requests and relationships.
• Reliable transportation to support occasional field work and site visits.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in a related field is preferred.
• Experience managing a service department within a commercial or industrial HVAC environment.
• Ability to develop and refine technician training programs based on performance and feedback.
• Experience overseeing billing, estimates, and administrative aspects of service operations.
• Strong organizational skills for managing inventory, parts, tools, and equipment.
• Ability to coordinate and schedule subcontractors to support service activities.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in HVAC service environments.
• Comfort working in both office and field settings.

Work Environment

The role is primarily office-based, with approximately 70% of the time spent in the office managing operations, coordinating technicians, and handling customer and administrative tasks. Around 30% of the time is spent in the field, supporting technicians on job sites and engaging directly with service activities. The environment centers on commercial and industrial HVAC technologies, requiring regular interaction with parts, tools, and equipment, as well as adherence to safety regulations and industry standards.

This is a Permanent position based out of Rochester, NY.

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
