ABOUT VIBRANT PLANET

We are a team of leaders in fire science, applied science, forestry, policy, and tech who work with land managers, community risk managers, utilities, and insurers to drive action that lowers the risk of destructive wildfire. Our cloud-based, AI-driven platform modernizes land management planning, community risk assessment, and monitoring through scenario building, decision support, and treatment outcome detection.

Our fire science subsidiary, Pyrologix, produces leading wildfire science and models that quantify wildfire hazard and risk, and the benefits of mitigation action. This science powers the core Vibrant Planet platform and supports our work across utilities, insurance, and other sectors.

Vibrant Planet is backed by climate and resilience leaders including Grantham Foundation, Earthshot, Elemental Excelerator, Ecosystem Integrity Fund, Cisco, and Halogen Ventures. For more information, visit vibrantplanet.net and pyrologix.com.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a product manager to own Vibrant Planet\'s data platform — the cloud infrastructure and data production systems that store, process, and serve our geospatial data to internal teams, our own applications, and external customers. You\'ll drive delivery and day-to-day product work and work with the broader product team to prioritize and build new functionality in collaboration with scientists and engineers. Your work will directly support our mission to provide best-in-class scientific data and decision support for wildfire mitigation and community resilience planning.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Gather and prioritize requirements from the teams that depend on the platform

- Translate new platform needs into clear technical specs that engineering teams can build from

- Partner with engineering teams, other PMs, and external contractors to execute and deliver new functionality

- Drive documentation and developer experience

- Define and track success metrics to measure adoption, reliability, delivery time, cost and other key indicators

- Comply with Vibrant Planet’s Information Security Policy and the full security responsibilities detailed in the Employee Handbook, including complete required security training, safeguard customer and company data, keep credentials secure, and report suspected security incidents or policy violations through established channels.

- Ensure direct reports complete required security training, communicate security policy requirements to new team members, and escalate security concerns through proper channels.

-Follow secure development practices, adhere to established change management processes for production systems, protect the confidentiality and integrity of customer data, and promptly address security vulnerabilities in your area of responsibility.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Degree or equivalent experience in computer science, engineering, data science, machine learning, geospatial science, or related quantitative discipline

- 3+ years in technical product, platform, or data-engineering roles

- Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple engineering teams to execute production-grade delivery

- Experience working with cloud-native geospatial data at continental to global scales

- Experience shaping external-facing or data-as-a-service APIs

- Hands-on understanding of cloud infrastructure, distributed compute, and workflow orchestration

- Strong technical writing — turns direction into specs engineers build from

- Comfort working in a fully remote, fast-paced startup environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Background in machine learning and MLOps with experience building production infrastructure for training and inference

- Experience with agentic AI, or designing data and APIs for AI-agent access and use

- Background in wildfire, forestry, or climate science
