What Does a Flight Attendant Who Works in the Summer Do?
A flight attendant for the summer provides services to ensure the comfort and safety of airline passengers in-flight, when boarding, and during landing. This is typically a temporary position that extends from June-August. Your responsibilities include explaining safety procedures to passengers, assisting people with their stowed and overhead luggage, serving food and beverages, and cleaning the cabin before the next flight. Other duties include demonstrating the use of emergency and safety equipment, stocking supplies on the plane, reassuring passengers during flights, administering first aid when necessary, and directing passengers if an emergency occurs.
What Are Summer Jobs for a Flight Attendant?
As a summer flight attendant, you work part-time or full-time for an airline during June-August to support seasonal tourism needs. As part of this role, you may travel within or outside of the country, instruct passengers in proper safety techniques, serve food and drinks, respond to medical emergencies, and otherwise help manage each trip. In this industry, part-time means less than 40 hours per week, but could include more than eight hours per day based on the length of flights and scheduling needs. Some summer flight attendants are interns instead of full employees—in these cases, this job focuses on learning more about being a flight attendant.
