Job description

Now hiring for Summer 2027!
We are hiring passionate, dedicated, hard-working young adults to serve on our summer staff, running ASP’s volunteer hosting program in over 15-20 locations each year.
About Appalachia Service ProjectASP provides one of the most rewarding structured service opportunities in the nation — bringing thousands of volunteers from around the country to rural Central Appalachia to repair homes for low-income families. Appalachia Service Project is a Christian ministry, open to all people, that inspires hope and service through volunteer home repair and replacement in Central Appalachia.
ResponsibilitiesASP summer staff members work in teams of four, running the volunteer program at an ASP summer center. Each week, summer staff welcome a new group of volunteers and make sure that they provide quality home repairs to Appalachian families.
Summer staff members help volunteers develop meaningful relationships with those families, while making sure the volunteers’ needs—from food to tools and materials to rest and encouragement—are being met. Summer Staff serve as mentors and role models for the middle and high school youth volunteer who participate in ASP’s mission.
Every evening when the volunteers gather at the center tired and fulfilled, summer staff lead spiritual programs to help them volunteers unpack their experience while learning more about Appalachia and themselves.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage construction projects
  • Empower volunteers to succeed and provide excellent customer service
  • Serve the community as a representative of ASP
  • Ensure that a spiritual environment is fostered at the center
