Job description

Description Middle School Program Support: Athletics & Recreation Cedar Hills Recreation Center (CHRC) is hiring a dedicated and organized Middle School Program Support to lead THPRD's Middle School Cross Country and Track & Field programs serving 10 Beaverton middle schools. In addition to supporting Middle School athletics, this position plays an important role in the year-round recreation programming offered at Cedar Hills Recreation Center. This position takes the lead in planning, coordinating, and delivering the district's fall Cross Country and spring Track & Field seasons.

During the off-season, this position continues preparing for upcoming Middle School program seasons. Additionally, this position assists year-round with planning, facilitating, and supervising youth sports classes, summer camps, special events, and other recreation programs. The specific recreation programs supported may vary throughout the year based on seasonal needs and center operations.

This position works closely with and reports to the full-time programmer who oversees these programs, providing ongoing guidance, collaboration, and support. The ideal candidate will have a passion for Cross Country, Track & Field, youth athletics, and recreation programming; strong organizational and verbal and written communication skills; the ability to lead and support part-time staff; and a collaborative, team-oriented approach. Schedule This is a year-round, part-time position with a typical schedule of approximately 29 hours per week.

Hours may vary throughout the year based on seasonal programming and operational needs, and part-time employees may work fewer than 1,560 hours annually. During the school year, typical weekday shifts are scheduled between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m

or 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. When weekend coverage is scheduled, shifts generally fall within facility hours of 8:00 a.m

to 4:00 p.m. Availability on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and evenings is required during the Middle School Cross Country and Track & Field seasons. Attendance at all scheduled meets is required and meet days may include later evening hours

During the summer, the schedule shifts primarily to daytime hours to support sports camps and other seasonal recreation programs. The preferred schedule may include occasional weekend hours, special events, or additional evening work. The regular weekly schedule may be discussed based on program needs and candidate availability.

Responsibilities Developing schedules and preparing program materials. Coordinating, operating, and maintaining facilities and equipment. Supporting registration and family communications.

Overseeing practices and meets. Providing lead direction to assigned part-time staff and volunteers. Assisting with staff recruitment, training, and coaching.

Preparing for upcoming programs by updating program materials. Developing additional Middle School programs and activities. Qualifications Current First Aid and CPR certifications are required.

A valid Oregon driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required. Experience supporting, leading, coaching, or instructing youth athletics or recreation programs is required. Experience with Cross Country and Track & Field programs is preferred.

Pay Rate: $27.84 - $31.38 Hourly The hiring rate for this position is $27.84 - $31.38. The full hourly range for this classification is $27.84 - $31.38 per hour. Staff may be eligible for a merit increase at the end of September

Working Conditions This is an active, hands-on position that spends a portion of its time working in recreation facilities, schools, parks, and other community settings. The remaining time is spent in office dedicated to program planning, coordination, communication, and administrative responsibilities.

Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments and may take place in a variety of weather and environmental conditions. The position involves moderate physical activity, including setting up, moving, organizing, and storing recreation equipment and supplies.
