BASIC PURPOSE
Hours per week: Up to 25
*This position requires the candidate to provide PA State Police Clearance, PA Child Abuse, and FBI Fingerprint prior to first day of employment.
Part Time Casual Employees are hired on a seasonal basis during peak periods, may serve a maximum of four consecutive months (i.e. summer/fall enrollment peak) and are limited to a maximum of 25 hours per week.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Hospitality Institute of Montgomery County Community College is seeking part-time experienced chef trainers to teach non-credit culinary classes specializing in one or more of the following areas:
  • Basic cooking/baking skills to aspiring young chefs ages 10-17
  • Basic cooking techniques, skills and methods for adults
  • Specific or a variety of global cuisines
  • Advanced Cake Decorating/Advanced Pastry Techniques
  • Spirits and Cocktails/Mixology
  • Wine and food pairing
  • Cooking for special diets
  • Food Science and Nutrition
  • Culinary teambuilding for businesses
  • School or community events involving demonstrations and food conversations
  • ServSafe - bilingual (in English and Spanish) instructors preferred

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Qualifications:
  • Applicants must have a comprehensive understanding of working in a kitchen, recipe creation, and teaching (no degree required)
  • Must have a passion for food and educating people about cooking/baking, food science, or nutrition.
