Location: Bend, Oregon

Position Summary

To perform the duties of assigned shifts, including patrols /rounds, protection of property, facilities, and assets, providing security, customer service, loss prevention and intervention; and all other duties as outlined in the officer's job description and Department Policies and Procedures. Provides a safe and secure environment for all staff, physical facilities, and assets. Works with local law enforcement to assist investigations of thefts and property loss. Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines and DPSST regarding security.

Major Responsibilities/ Daily Essential Functions

  • Represent Mt. Bachelor positively: Supports the company mission, complies with the supervisor's manual. Models exemplary self-discipline, departmental teamwork, interdepartmental teamwork, guest service, professional skills, and ethics. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information and provides customer service.
  • Responsible for the Security of Mt. Bachelor employees, guests, property, and the secure transportation of goods.
  • Security staff is the first point of contact with the guest. The officer will need to have good mountain knowledge to answer guest questions and communicate via radio communication with all departments.
  • The officer will have good department knowledge and use radio and phone communication with all departments.
  • Identify and log unusual occurrences and other events.

Secondary Function

To assist other Departments as needed and provide customer service.

Job Scope

Responsible for the Security of Mt. Bachelor employees, guests, property, and the secure transportation of money. Responsible for following: Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) guidelines and Oregon Laws. Has a working knowledge of the classification of police terminology and the classification of crimes/incidents. Follow safe work practices and be aware of good risk management practices. Interview the suspect and take appropriate action.

Interpersonal Contacts

All Revenue Departments, Guests, Executive Staff, Vault, Lift Access, Vehicle Maintenance, Parking, Snow Removal, Transportation, Accounting, Group Sales, Vendors, Employees, Bank, etc.

Specific Job Skills/Certifications

  • License/Certifications: Can obtain a Department of Public Safety Standards and Training - Private Security Certified. Must have a valid Driver's License.
  • Technical: An understanding of police terminology and classification of crimes/incidents. Ability to accurately report emergencies and incidents to 911. Report Writing. Testifying in Court.
  • Physical Capabilities: The ability to work in a mountain environment with varying temperatures and have the physical fitness to walk across snow-covered surfaces in low light conditions (I.e., nighttime and/or storm). Shift Work includes Day, Swing, and Graveyard.
  • Additional: First Aid, C.P.R./AED preferred.

Education/Related Experience

  • Minimum education required: High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Minimum experience required: 6 months+ experience in a similar role preferred

  • In addition to the specific conditions below, every position at Mt. Bachelor requires the ability to shovel snow, lift up to 10 pounds, and walk on steep and uneven surfaces.
  • While performing the duties of this role, the employee will be required to frequently bend, reach, climb, push, pull, lift over 50 pounds, and stand for prolonged periods of time. Additionally, the position will require frequent visual concentration, rapid reactions to changes, and the utilization of hand/eye coordination.

Current Hiring Rate: $21.20/hr

Minimum Age Requirement: 21+
