Lead Youth Mentor (Atlanta)
Inspiritus
The Lead Youth Mentor oversees and maintains an afterschool program site and summer enrichment program for high school students, ensuring safe and efficient operations alongside staff, interns, and volunteers. Assigned to a school-based site, this role integrates afterschool programming with a state-funded Youth Mentoring initiative, providing hands-on coaching and individualized support to refugee transition-aged youth focused on academic success, career readiness, and higher education.
In addition to leading daily afterschool activities, the Lead Youth Mentor conducts one-on-one mentoring sessions and develops individualized Career Development Plans to guide students in achieving their educational and vocational goals. The role also includes assessing student progress, maintaining accurate records, and directly supervising and engaging an afterschool class of refugee youth.
Position Details:
  • Full Time position
  • Refugee and immigration Services - Youth Services
  • Reports to Youth Services Coordinator
  • Located in Atlanta, GA
  • Mostly in-person position with some local travel
  • Monday through Friday; 10:00AM - 6:30PM, flexible hours
  • Annual Compensation: $40,000 - $45,000

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for supporting youth afterschool enrichment and youth mentoring programming, organization, and operation of the Inspiritus afterschool and summer camp program at an assigned site
  • Supervise and tutor refugee youth in all academic subjects, specifically focusing on literacy skills, self-sufficiency, creativity, and academic progress
  • Complete Individual Career Development Plans, one-on-one mentoring sessions, assessments, and on-going educational and career pathway coaching for all eligible and enrolled students
  • Facilitate student afterschool assessments for each student on site
  • Complete home visits as necessary for program enrollment, parent engagement, ongoing support
  • Assist Youth Services Coordinator in the planning and execution of summer camp programming, including but not limited to curriculum development, teaching, facilitation, and transportation
  • Integrate volunteers/interns into program activities, supervising and utilizing their presence effectively to best meet the needs of enrolled students
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions
  • Complies with the various federal, state or local laws that apply to and regulate the job responsibilities
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with schools, service providers, community organizations, and stakeholders
  • Participate in professional development, trainings, and Inspiritus activities while maintaining program goals, compliance, and professional boundaries
  • Document services and client information into an online database

  1. ssociate's or Bachelor's degree or international equivalent in education or human services-related or education field and minimum of two years of previous direct work experience in youth and/or human services, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  2. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  3. Experience working in a culturally diverse environment and high level of cultural competence
  4. Excellent computer skills, accurate typing, and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  5. Must be sensitive to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  6. Must own a personal multi-passenger vehicle, hold a valid Georgia Driver's license, have a good driving record, and have appropriate personal auto insurance
