Job description

Are you passionate about defending critical national security systems against evolving cyber threats? Ortman Consulting is seeking a highly motivated Cyber Threat Analyst to support a mission-critical federal customer in Reston, Virginia. In this role, you will serve as a key member of a cyber fusion team responsible for identifying, analyzing, and communicating emerging cyber threats targeting U.S. Government and Department of Defense (DoD) networks and mission systems. As a Cyber Threat Analyst, you will create high-value cyber intelligence products, analyze complex network events, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to strengthen cyber defense capabilities. Key Responsibilities Analyze cyber threat intelligence from multiple classified and open-source intelligence streams to identify emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and attack campaigns.
Produce timely, actionable cyber threat intelligence reports, assessments, and fusion products for senior leadership and operational stakeholders.
Conduct research on adversary cyber operations, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), with an emphasis on threats targeting DoD information networks and weapon systems.
Evaluate network events and security incidents to determine operational impact and provide recommendations for mitigation.
Correlate technical intelligence with all-source intelligence to assess adversary capability, intent, and potential mission impact.
Collaborate across cyber operations, intelligence, engineering, and incident response teams to improve cyber threat fusion capabilities.
Support the development and enhancement of cyber threat intelligence processes, reporting, automation, and visualization capabilities.
Develop recommendations for improving device visibility, data associations, and enterprise situational awareness.
Create, review, and deliver high-quality finished intelligence products that support mission operations and executive decision-making.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance cyber defense operations, intelligence sharing, and organizational performance.
Serve as a technical resource on cyber intelligence methodologies and emerging threats. Required Qualifications Security Clearance Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance is required. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Intelligence Studies, Engineering, or a related discipline.
1–8 years of relevant cyber threat intelligence, cybersecurity, cyber operations, or intelligence analysis experience.
A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for up to four years of experience. Required Certifications CompTIA Security+ or equivalent DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification.
Current CSSP Analyst certification or the ability to obtain one shortly after hire.
Acceptable CSSP certifications include:
Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
CompTIA CySA+
Certified Forensic Responder (CFR)
Equivalent DoD-approved CSSP Analyst certification Required Skills & Experience The ideal candidate will have experience with: Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) analysis and cyber threat fusion.
Threat hunting, cyber operations, or Security Operations Center (SOC) environments.
Intelligence analysis using classified and all-source intelligence.
Network security, operating systems, servers, storage, applications, and enterprise infrastructure.
Adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures (MITRE ATT&CK knowledge preferred).
Producing technical reports, executive briefings, and intelligence assessments.
Security event analysis and incident impact assessment.
Cyber reporting, automation, dashboards, and data visualization tools.
Cross-functional collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Leading or supporting multidisciplinary projects across multiple organizations.
Identifying opportunities to improve cyber threat intelligence workflows
