Job description

The Institute for Behavioral Health seeks an Undergraduate Research Assistant (URA) as summer intern to provide data collection and general support the Exploring Community Knowledge -Ongoing (ECKS-O) study.
This is a part time internship, 20 hour per week from June - August 2026.
The pay rate is $18/hour.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Undergraduate Research Assistant summer intern will work as part of a team to:
  • Working with Project Managers, to execute project administrative tasks.
  • Assist with data collection efforts for survey data for the ECKS-O study. This will be done in the field and remotely with research participants.
  • Work alongside research staff to support quality control activities (e.g., quantitative data, qualitative data, proofreading transcriptions, etc.)
  • Support quantitative and qualitative data analysis. Contribute to statistical analysis (e.g. bivariate analysis) and/or qualitative data coding with ECKS-O data. Experience with SPSS, R or Stata is preferred.
  • Conduct qualitative analysis, experience with Dedoose preferred.
  • Assist in creation/preparation of presentations, documentation, and other communication materials to delivery of information to communities, the department of public health, the team, and more
  • Attend weekly project meetings to record action steps, as requested.

Skills and Experience Requirements:
The candidate must have strong organizational and time-management skills, must be detailed oriented and focused. Must have ability to treat people who use drugs and people who are in recovery with dignity, respect, and kindness. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are necessary. Training and mentoring available for candidate.
Prior experience with research, community service with vulnerable populations, and/or with people who use drugs is preferred. Access to transportation is required.
