POSITION INFO:

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for general and preventive maintenance work of machines, equipment building and plant facilities. Shift is A3, 7p to 7a.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for general maintenance work of mechanical equipment, hydraulic pumps, cylinders, valves, quench conveyors, quench tanks, water leaks, etc. 


   Preventive maintenance of facility equipment.
   Knowledge in the proper operation of welding equipment and cutting torch.
   Assists plant service specialist in mechanical and electrical work as required.
   Working knowledge of all plant utilities, locations, and color coding for servicing.
   Knowledge of OSHA standards which are required for proper installations and work for compliance of regulations.
   Utilize fall-arrest system to perform work at heights greater than 4 feet.
   Responsible for housekeeping of work area.
   Responsible for safety of oneself and others.
   Performs any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of two years in maintenance field desired. Must maintain a good attendance record, have necessary tools, and strong ability/knowledge in at least one phase of maintenance work.

EDUCATION:

   High School Diploma or GED
   Work-Ready Certificate a plus

COMPETENCIES:

   Able to achieve acceptable results on a standard Mechanical Aptitude test
   Verbal & written communication skills
   Teamwork/cooperation
   Detail orientated
   Handle multiple priorities

TRAINING AND SKILLS:

   Mechanical and pneumatic knowledge
   Welding and cutting torch skills
   Some electrical knowledge desired.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

   Subject to standing for extended period 
   Working on wet surfaces
   Ability to lift-up to 50 lbs. or more
   Extreme temperatures up to 110 degrees in summer months
