Key responsibilities

  • Perform heavy housecleaning duties campus wide, including cleaning hallways, guest areas, offices, bedrooms, bathrooms, laundry rooms, kitchens, and dining areas.

  • Transport recyclable materials, make beds, change lightbulbs, wash accessible windows, move furniture, take down and rehang curtains, scrub and wax stairways and hallways, and transfer supplies between campus buildings.

  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards while performing various cleaning and maintenance tasks as assigned.


Job description

Summary/Objective: Performs heavy housecleaning duties campus wide for residents, employees and guests by performing the following duties:

Essential Functions:

Perform regular and thorough cleaning of hallways, guest areas, offices, bedrooms, bathrooms, laundry rooms, kitchens and dining areas of apartments and houses including vacuuming, wet and dry mopping, baseboards, doorways, blinds, windowsills, shutters, light fixtures, ceiling lights, walls, dusting furniture and cleaning kitchen appliances as needed.

Empty trash and transport recyclable materials from all Campus buildings to collection sites.

Make beds and change lightbulbs.

Wash windows were accessible as requested or as needed.

Move furniture out of and into rooms as needed.

Take down curtains and rehang if necessary.

Scrub and wax stairways, hallways, porches and entrances and buff and mop halls.

Transfer and deliver supplies to other campus buildings.

Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Licenses/Certificates: Valid driver?s license required to drive vehicles to transport equipment and supplies to other buildings as needed.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and/or stand; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; push, pull, bend, talk, see and hear.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, taste and smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25-50 pounds. (On occasion will lift to 100 pounds with assistance) The employee will be required to wear personal protective equipment as established in company policies and protocols.  This may include gloves, face masks or respirators, face shields, goggles, gowns and potentially other protective equipment.

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.  Frequent exposure to high heat and humidity inside the buildings during summer months.  Subject to minor cuts, scrapes, burns, and falls. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate due to noise from sweepers, buffers, wet vacs, shampooers. The employee is occasionally exposed to infectious waste, diseases, various medical conditions, etc., including Hepatitis B viruses.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:  This is a Full-Time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 40 hours per week.

Travel: Travel is primarily local during the business day.
