Invite a friend Back to job search Job Description Columbus State University Summer Camp Instructor Position: Technology & STEM Are you passionate about STEM. CSU, in conjunction with Black Rocket Productions, is seeking enthusiastic, motivated and talented individuals to work as a Lead Instructor to help teach exciting classes based in Minecraft, Roblox, A.I., Video Game Design, and MORE. This is a perfect job for K12 certified classroom teachers with summers off who want to teach children various types of new technology

Lead Instructors are adults who are responsible for the well-being and education of the students. A lead instructor may have either a degree/experience in education or significant experience in one of the content areas. They must have a strong understanding of the course concepts being taught as well as any techniques and software involved.

Classroom management skills are preferred. Upon completion of the Black Rocket training program, instructors must demonstrate competency in the core concepts and software used. In addition to teaching responsibilities, lead instructors are also responsible for the supervision of staff, equipment management, and enforcement of site policies.

Training begins in spring 2026. This is a seasonal position. Experience with technology preferred, but not required.

Training is provided. Get paid to build your resume and have a ton of fun. Training is paid and mostly online with some on site at CSU.

Each new hire will attend an online training program to learn the curriculum and the Black Rocket approach. Training begins in April 2026. The position is Monday-Friday for the weeks of June 8th through July 31st, skipping the week of July 4th.

Camps run from: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. (Full day) Instructors should plan to be available with enough time to set-up and clean-up each day of camp, prior to campers arriving and after campers leave. Experience and Skills Qualifications for Lead Instructor: Bachelor's degree (or nearly completed) Experience working with kids ages 6-14 Teaching Certification strongly preferred Must be available the weeks listed above Excellent communication skills Experience with programming, coding, game design, and technology is preferred but not required Excellent problem-solving skills Duties of our Lead Instructors include, but are not limited to: Prepare adequately by reviewing and internalizing the prepared curricula for the courses to be taught

Prepare for and deliver multiple rotations of BRP curriculum per day to groups of up to 20 campers. Familiarize oneself with the necessary software in order to educate and utilize in the classroom. Implement the curriculum as written, adapting it as needed to improve the camper experience or accommodate individual campers.

Provide leadership, energy and camp spirit, constantly assessing group dynamics and the needs of individual campers. Supervise Assistant Instructors working in your program area and inspire them to become excellent instructors. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in and outside the classroom.

Job Benefits This is a summer seasonal position. Lead instructors are paid $20 per hour while working with students in the classroom. Training time is compensated via a stipend of $50 per course.
