Summer apprentice programs on oil rigs are available for students interested in gaining hands-on experience in the industry. Apprenticeships typically involve on-site training, safety protocols, and supervision by experienced personnel.

Oil Delivery Driver – Flexible Seasonal Role with Year-Round HVAC Career Pathway

Job Overview:

  • Company: John Cipollone, Inc.
  • Salary/Pay Rate: $25 to $32+ per hour (plus Performance-Based Bonuses and Profit Sharing).
  • Location: Havertown, PA.
  • Job/Employment Type: Full-Time / Seasonal Hybrid (Option for year-round employment or spring/summer off).
  • Schedule: Full-Time during peak winter heating season. Flexible options for spring and summer.
  • Mandatory Licenses & Certifications: Class B CDL (minimum) with Hazmat Endorsement, Tanker Endorsement, and Air Brake Certification.

The Opportunity:

Join a versatile role tailored to your lifestyle and career goals. During the peak winter heating season, you will serve as a vital fuel oil driver, ensuring Havertown families stay warm and comfortable. When the weather warms up, you choose your path: take the spring and summer off to enjoy extended personal time, or step into a full-time, paid apprenticeship with our master craftsmen to learn the residential HVAC trade. If you are a truck driver looking to be home every night, then look no further!

How You Will Make an Impact:

  • Safely operate and maintain liquid fuel delivery vehicles to perform residential oil deliveries across our local service territory.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections in strict compliance with state and federal safety regulations.
  • Provide clean, respectful, and friendly service at client properties, representing the high integrity of our brand.
  • Work closely with the dispatch team to navigate daily delivery routes efficiently and handle priority emergency deliveries during severe weather.
  • (Optional Off-Season Pathway) Partner alongside veteran HVAC service and installation technicians to learn ductwork, mini-split systems, and hydronic heating, building a long-term, high-earning trade skill.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL Class A or B minimum).
  • Required CDL Endorsements: Hazmat (H), Tanker (N), and Air Brakes.
  • Ability to successfully pass a mandatory background check, initial drug test, and ongoing random drug screenings as dictated by state safety laws.
  • Ability to physically maneuver heavy delivery hoses in varied winter weather conditions (snow, ice, mud) and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Safety-first mindset with a clean driving record and strong local route familiarity.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Previous experience operating a fuel oil delivery truck or liquid tanker.
  • Willingness to learn—no prior mechanical or HVAC experience required; we are fully willing to train the right person for field trade work during the off-season.
  • Basic computer or tablet literacy for tracking deliveries and managing route tickets digitally.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Weekly pay cycle with high overtime potential during peak winter months.
  • Profit-sharing eligibility and project completion/performance bonuses.
  • Comprehensive medical, vision, and Health Savings Account (HSA) options.
  • Life and disability insurance coverage.
  • Paid training programs and paid HVAC apprenticeship during the spring and summer.
  • Safety equipment provided (helmets, gloves, high-vis gear) plus uniforms.
  • Company events and a supportive team culture that celebrates every win.
