Scope of Position
Under the guidance of the Dean and in partnership with the Truck Driver Training Coordinator, this role supports learners in building the knowledge and skills needed for success in courses such as Truck Driver Trainer Orientation, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, Truck Maintenance, Load Securement, Hazardous Materials, and Commercial Driver's License Tractor/Trailer Driver Training. The position designs and delivers engaging, learner-centered instruction and provides individualized advising to empower students in achieving their goals.
Key Measurable Expectations (KMEs)
  • Deliver engaging, learner-focused instruction in safety and foundational tractor/trailer driver training courses, fostering an environment where all students feel supported and valued.
  • Ensure a high-quality training experience by monitoring and continuously improving instructional practices to meet diverse learner needs.
  • Research and design innovative, inclusive instructional materials that reflect industry standards and empower students to succeed.
  • Communicate proactively with employers, advisory committee members, and stakeholders to align curriculum with workforce needs and promote equitable opportunities.
  • Assess specialized training service needs and analyze labor market trends to identify employment pathways and strategies for program growth and enhancement.
  • Collaborate in developing and managing budgets for training delivery and instructional design, ensuring responsible and transparent resource use.
  • Prepare cost analyses for training projects to support informed decision-making and program sustainability.
  • Create comprehensive, accessible student manuals for truck driver training that promote clarity and inclusivity.
  • Stay current with transportation training and certification trends, integrating best practices that advance learner success and industry relevance.
  • Assist in preparing and coordinating quarterly and annual reports to demonstrate program impact and continuous improvement.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to strengthen expertise and model lifelong learning for students.

Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
  • Two years of truck driver training experience required.
  • Transportation safety training experience required.
  • Valid CDL Class A license with full endorsements including air brake certification for the State of Illinois.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree preferred in business or related field.
  • Technical training related to truck driver experience preferred.
  • Truck driver business experience preferred.
  • Truck driver maintenance experience preferred.

Team Members can expect to be paid a salary between $44,904 to $58,375, which includes an excellent benefits package. The salary will be based on a combination of relevant education, training, work experience, and skill competencies.
