Job description

Position Title: Finance/Accounting Intern (Fall)

Department: Finance

Reports To: Director of Finance

Salary Range: PT $18 -$20/hour + Total Rewards Package

Position Summary:

The Finance/Accounting Intern position is a great opportunity to utilize accounting and finance skills while getting hands on experience with the complex workings of a first-class non-profit organization.   The Finance Intern will work directly with the Director of Finance in carrying out the mission of the UPM finance department. Responsibilities will include supporting the organization’s monthly business rhythm and seasonal activities such as the annual budget cycle, fiscal year-end close and new fiscal year startup, and support of annual external audit.  Additional opportunities will be in the form of ad-hoc projects, including analytical, treasury, and budgeting models.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ability to perform general accounting and financial tasks with guidance
  • Ability to manage time and meet deadlines
  • Ability to provide accurate results 

 

Essential Job Requirements:

EDUCATION

High School Diploma and enrolled in a college or university in pursuit of a Finance, Accounting or related business degree

EXPERIENCE

Some familiarity with accounting, financial terms and general business acumen

REQUIRED SKILLS

Significant ability with Microsoft Excel functionality  

PREFERRED SKILLS

Familiarity with any dashboard focused applications; Experience with Non-profit accounting, Intacct software, Bill.com or Primepoint payroll systems (these are not required – considered a bonus)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Sitting for Extended Periods: Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk while performing administrative tasks or using a computer.

Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift or carry light office supplies, boxes, or event materials (typically up to 10 lbs)
