OVERVIEW
Sugar Farms Co-Op is searching for an experienced Shop Mechanic. The candidate would have experience in the maintenance and repairs of heavy diesel tractors, grain combines, sugarcane harvesters, chemical sprayers and/or other farm equipment. Specific skills include Hydraulics, Diesel Engines, Brakes, Electrical Systems, Air Conditioning, and Transmission. Job will primarily serve in a shop setting, but field work will also be required. Candidates will be familiar with reading service manuals, parts manuals, safety guidelines, procedural manuals, and must have excellent all-around mechanical aptitude. Critical thinking and problem solving skills are highly desired.
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Strong heavy diesel and ag equipment repair/maintenance background
  • Able to do all day-to-day maintenance on a variety of equipment
  • Able to read schematics, diagrams, service manuals, parts manuals
  • Experience in equipment diagnostics, diagnostic tools (including computer), and precision agriculture equipment
  • Experience ordering and maintaining parts lists
  • Welding and fabrication experience preferred
  • Must have a good safety record and adhere to all company safety standards
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Must have own tools
  • Must be willing to work in adverse environmental conditions (heat, dirt, dust, tropical elements)
  • Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) preferred

WORK EXPERIENCES & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Pass a background check
  • Must be able to pass a physical and drug screening
  • Must pass A - Grade Mechanic Test
  • Candidate will have 5+ years' experience in heavy diesel and/or ag equipment repair/maintenance (required)
  • Must pass an aptitude test (based on experience and certifications)
  • ASE Certifications preferred

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma preferred but not required
  • Possess a valid driver's license Class E or above
  • Heavy Diesel Technician Certification from an accredited training institution highly desired
