Job description

VACANCY: The Valley View Public School District is seeking individuals to work on an as needed basis as a Substitute Teacher Aide positions. 
 

JOB SUMMARY:  This position is responsible for assisting the classroom teacher in a variety of semi-instructional tasks and working in a general educational setting providing support to a student with significant disabilities within the classroom and around the building. Candidates must be able to assist with communication, scheduling, and modifications of curriculum and students may require toileting, feeding and lifting.

QUALIFICATIONS:  

Education

       Completed 60 semester hours of college credit from a regionally accredited institution of higher education or passed the ETS ParaPro/WorkKeys assessment

       Educator License with Stipulations (ELS)PARA from the Will County Regional Office of Education is required

Other

      Meets all mandated health requirements

      Documentation of a clear criminal record.

      Complies with drug-free workplace rules and board policies.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: Substitute Teacher Aides may need to stand for the majority of the day and may also sit for long periods.  May be required to reach and or lift more than 25 pounds. Must speak and understand English proficiently.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  This position is on an as needed basis and does not constitute a permanent position. Substitute Teacher Aides or the Valley View School District 365U can terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice.  All Substitute Teacher Aides are expected to be prompt and reliable, appropriately dressed and groomed, and follow all school policies and guidelines.
