Job description

DESCRIPTION

Right Side Up is a long-term residential treatment program for women with children. We are currently hiring a full time Counselor.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide individual and group counseling to substance-dependent women, many of whom are survivors of domestic violence. This role requires a dedication to fostering growth and recovery through supportive and evidence-based therapeutic approaches.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct weekly individual counseling sessions with assigned clients.
  • Facilitate 3-5 weekly group sessions, ensuring the required content is delivered effectively.
  • Develop responsive and measurable treatment plans based on client assessments.
  • Conduct timely treatment plan reviews to monitor progress.
  • Assist clients in accessing support services, such as TANF, Food Stamps, Childcare, and Medicaid.
  • Maintain clear, concise, and timely case records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
  • Report incidents, abuse, or neglect to the appropriate regulatory agencies as required.
  • Actively participate in staff meetings, case reviews, and in-service training.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Participate in community planning teams and task forces as needed.
  • Serve as an advocate for clients and the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Addiction Studies, Psychology, Education, Social Work, Health Education, Women's Studies, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Certification as CACI or CACII is also acceptable.
  • Bachelor's degree with extensive experience may substitute for a Master's degree.

Experience:

  • Minimum of two years of counseling experience with substance-dependent women.

Required Competencies:

  • Expertise in individual and group counseling for substance-dependent women.
  • Strong charting/documentation skills.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.
  • Cultural competence and sensitivity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of addiction theory, mental health disorders, women-specific health needs, and family dynamics.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Professional demeanor, dependability, and time-management skills.
