Job description

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Duct Mechanic to join our HVAC installation and service team. The Duct Mechanic will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing fiber glass, sheet metal duct systems for residential, commercial, and industrial HVAC projects. The ideal candidate should have strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and efficiently both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

Measure, cut, bend, and assemble fiber glass and sheet metal ductwork using hand and power tools.

Install duct systems, fittings, dampers, grills, and diffusers according to blueprints, specifications, and building codes.

Seal duct systems to ensure proper airflow, efficiency, and compliance with standards.

Troubleshoot, repair, or replace damaged or malfunctioning ductwork.

Collaborate with HVAC technicians and installers to coordinate installation of systems.

Operate machinery such as shears, brakes, and presses for duct fabrication.

Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized job site.

Read and interpret technical drawings and mechanical plans.

Ensure compliance with local building codes, company standards, and OSHA requirements.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a duct mechanic, sheet metal worker, or similar role in HVAC.

Strong knowledge of duct systems, sheet metal fabrication, and installation techniques.

Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical specifications.

Proficient in using duct fabrication and installation tools.

Familiarity with safety practices and OSHA regulations.

Physical stamina and ability to work in various environments (rooftops, crawlspaces, confined areas).

High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or apprenticeship preferred.

Preferred Skills

EPA Certification or HVAC technician certification (a plus).

Welding or brazing experience.

Knowledge of insulation materials and duct sealing methods.

Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
