Construction Project Manager

Location: Alta Vista, KS / Full-time, in-person position serving projects throughout the surrounding Kansas communities.

Own the Project. Lead the Experience.

K Construction is a family-owned construction company that has spent nearly 30 years building custom homes, barndominiums, agricultural buildings, commercial spaces, dream shops, and other meaningful projects throughout Kansas. Much of our work comes from repeat customers and referrals, reflecting the trust we have earned through quality craftsmanship, dependable communication, and a commitment to doing things right.

K Construction is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to take ownership of custom construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout.

You will manage drawing accuracy, scopes of work, subcontractor bidding, budgets, schedules, procurement, change orders, and financial reporting. You will also serve as the primary point of contact for customers, keeping them informed, setting clear expectations, and working toward an outstanding experience on every project.

This role is ideal for a construction professional who understands both the operational and customer-facing sides of project management and wants the authority to lead projects from beginning to end.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
  • Review drawings and confirm project details for accuracy and constructability
  • Develop clear scopes of work for subcontractors and vendors
  • Solicit, review, and manage subcontractor bids
  • Establish and maintain baseline project budgets and schedules
  • Coordinate procurement, selections, materials, and project resources
  • Prepare, communicate, and track change orders
  • Monitor project costs and provide accurate financial reporting
  • Serve as the primary point of communication for customers
  • Set and manage expectations throughout the construction process
  • Work toward an 8 out of 10 or higher customer satisfaction rating on every project
  • Build strong relationships with dependable subcontractors who meet K Construction's quality standards
  • Identify and resolve issues before they affect the project schedule, budget, or customer experience

Qualifications

  • Previous construction project management experience with full responsibility for budgets and schedules
  • Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings
  • Experience creating scopes of work and managing subcontractor bidding
  • Knowledge of building codes, utilities, and general construction processes
  • Experience managing selections, procurement, and change orders
  • Strong customer service and expectation-management skills
  • Excellent organization, communication, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency with Buildertrend or similar construction project management software

Experience in post-frame, light commercial, agricultural, or custom construction is strongly preferred. Estimating experience, subcontractor management, or previous trade leadership experience would also be valuable.

Pay and Benefits

  • Base salary: $80,000 - $100,000 per year, depending on experience
  • Company truck provided for business use.
  • Health insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Retirement plan
  • Aflac benefits
  • Full-time, W-2 position with long-term growth opportunities
  • Opportunity to manage distinctive custom construction projects from start to finish

Why K Construction?

You will build real relationships with customers who are investing in something meaningful and work alongside a team that values quality, accountability, and clear communication. This is an opportunity to create a long-term project management career with a respected and growing family-owned company.
