Job description

Commercial HVAC Retrofit Technician

Dayton, OH

Perfection Group is hiring an experienced Commercial HVAC Retrofit Technician to support our growing project work in Dayton and the surrounding area.

This is a hands-on role for someone who understands commercial HVAC equipment replacement and takes pride in completing safe, organized, high-quality installations. You’ll work on retrofit projects for commercial and industrial customers, coordinate with project partners, and help ensure each job is completed correctly and with minimal rework.

Paid drive time, additional on-call compensation, a company vehicle, major tools, and continued technical training are provided. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and perform the installation and replacement of commercial HVAC systems
  • Work with boilers, rooftop units, chillers, air-handling units, condensers, cooling towers, VAV systems, and water-source heat pumps
  • Remove existing equipment and prepare job sites for new installations
  • Install and modify sheet-metal ductwork
  • Install refrigerant, natural-gas, and hydronic piping
  • Perform brazing, soldering, welding, and pipefitting as required
  • Complete high- and low-voltage electrical connections
  • Assist with equipment rigging, lifting, setting, and alignment
  • Install duct and pipe insulation
  • Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, specifications, and equipment submittals
  • Inspect and test completed installations to verify proper operation
  • Coordinate work with customers, project managers, subcontractors, vendors, and other trades
  • Identify job-site concerns early and communicate material, scheduling, or scope needs promptly
  • Complete project documentation accurately and on time
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site, company vehicle, tools, and assigned equipment
You May Be a Great Fit If You
  • Have at least three years of commercial HVAC installation or retrofit experience
  • Have hands-on experience replacing commercial mechanical equipment
  • Understand electrical connections, refrigerant and hydronic piping, brazing, sheet metal, and rigging
  • Can read and work confidently from mechanical drawings, electrical diagrams, and project specifications
  • Troubleshoot field issues and develop practical, effective solutions
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, project leaders, subcontractors, and teammates
  • Work independently while remaining aligned and accountable to the larger project team
  • Take ownership of materials, tools, documentation, schedules, and assigned responsibilities
  • Take pride in completing safe, accurate, high-quality work with minimal rework
  • Stay flexible and show up when project schedules and the team require additional support
  • Hold a Universal EPA Section 608 certification, preferred
  • Have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
