Job description

Supports all new student and family initiatives which help ensure a successful transition, engagement and retention with the Suffolk community. Specific responsibilities include RAM Supporter program development and facilitation for new students. Position reports to Orientation, New Student and Family Programs Director and has a dotted line to Student Affairs Office.
Primary/Principal Responsibilities:
Responsible for RAM Supporter Team and RAM Supporter recruitment, selection, and training/leadership development programs. Provide peer mentoring, personal support, and success strategy education to at-risk student populations during their initial year at Suffolk.
Serve new students of concern in conjunction through individual meetings with collaboration with Student Affairs. Serve on the CARE TEAM, attending bi-weekly meetings.
Assist in all aspects of the planning and implementation of the institution's undergraduate student and family orientation initiatives by collaborating with campus partners.
Develop and execute family programming and communication
Develop new student initiatives which target the co-curricular and academic transition needs of mid-year new students.
Assist with Suffolk's extended orientation program, Ram Academy in conjunction with campus partners. Oversee all Orientation & New Student Programs involvement in fall and spring new student showcase events.
Serve on various Student Affairs committees to support campus activities and professional development. Assist in the planning and implementation of Family Weekend in collaboration with campus partners.
Requirements/Qualification:
  • Master's degree in Student Personnel, Counseling, Higher Education Administration or related field is required.
  • 1-2 years of previous professional experience with new student programs, new student orientation, academic advising, student affairs or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience in program development, implementation, and assessment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong professional and ethical standards on which to serve as a role model to a diverse student constituency. Ability to build working relationships with students, faculty and staff.
  • Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a fast paced environment, including ability to work nights and weekends as necessary.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organization, management, and platform skills; an ability to oversee a wide variety of activities; ability to work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

The salary range for this role is $60,000-$70,000.
